Even with all the myriads of patches available for IDM, you still managed to find the right one 🙂

You must have put a lot of efforts into testing this myriad of patches to find the right one, and I congratulate you for it!

I trust your releases so I will be getting this IDM release once I get back to my computer.

By the way, if this setup is not mirrored, will I be allowed to mirror it @TechLord?

(Mirroring just the setup, not the patches)

You are free to mirror all of my shares (including the patches) inside TIRA unless specifically stated in that post not to do so (other than in Private Korner areas of course). Mirrors are always welcome for my shares within TIRA.

This is by yaschir (and I left the README in the file as credits to him). As you know, since I did not post this thread in the Own Releases section, I do not claim it ito be my own. 🙂

Note : In this method IDM can be updated from default update option in IDM without reapplying Activation.

It'll work just like a real license.

I would like to point out some critical disadvantages when using an activator script for IDM instead of patching it @Krinal:

Your script since you convey that it does not patch IDM will not prevent IDM from updating forcefully.

I consider that blocking forced updates is critical as it is very concerning to have IDM add and execute new code downloaded from the Internet automatically without prior approval by the user.

I do not remember if it was a forced update check or a forced update; but I do remember that IDM absolutely must be patched to block it.

Blocking IP addresses and hostnames will not work because the software will show a fake serial nag screen if you do.

You wrote that the script you shared needs Internet at the time of applying the fix script.

For me it's the one thing that totally devalues this activation script.

We pirate software with online activation, HWID locks, etc because we want freedom.

We do not want to need any remote authorization to be able to use the software.

We also want the developer to lose control of the software after purchase (patch blacklist, keygen for HWID & patch for online activation).

All this, I mean that in my case piracy is due in big part to the fact that I do not want to be a legit customer of some developer.

Being a legit customer often means that you are at his mercy, that he cans revoke your software remotely, refuse to activate your new HWIDs at any time and if the activation server is down forever...

So, this script needing Internet to activate means that you are at the mercy of whoever owns the server needed for the script to work.

Medicinals shall always work fully offline without any authorization from anyone (developers).

Do you now understand now why it's THAT critical the script must work offline?

You mentioned that sometimes IDM will show you a nag screen anyway and that we need to run the script again if that is the case.

This is the cherry on top of devaluation, not only you were at the mercy of a remote Internet server operator once for the script to work initially...

But now you mention that eventually we will have to be yet again needing Internet to use the activator script again?

So we need Internet all the time to keep IDM activated, and we will always be at the mercy of the script's remote activation server.

Basically that means that the authorization to use IDM with that script eventually expires and we will need to ask the script remote server for authorization again to reactivate the software (IDM).

Then what is the advantage of Piracy here? Pirating IDM with that script is no different that buying it.

You are still at the mercy of a remote server on the regular, you still get forced updates because this fix is not a patch...

Honestly I would not call this script a 'medicinal' nor a 'fix'.

It does not fix the core problem of software licensing: removing the need for activation servers, removing HWID locks etc.

The core foundation of Piracy I think is that we must be free from the developer's control.

I do not pirate software to save money but to be free.

I would even be willing if there is no other way to buy a fully offline pirate Keygen double the price of the original software rather than be the original developer's slave under his Online Activation & HWID control.

I do not just write to make a big piece of text and everything written here is important.

The 'double the price for offline Keygen instead of genuine license' paragraph tells you that this is not about money, this is about freedom.

I do not know if you are the author of the script, but please do not take it personally.

I'm not attacking you in any way.

I'm just raising concerns regarding the fact that you are still not free as in freedom even after using your fix.

Need for Internet, forced updates, then regularly needing Internet yet again and having to rely on a script's remote server.

This is what I have raised as concerning in my post.

Instead of just blaming the fix, I will suggest solutions as well.

If that is your script, you need to absolutely remove the need for Internet / 'Online Activation' to activate the software.

You also absolutely need to atleast ship the IDM Updates patcher that blocks forced updates with your script.

You do not need to ship a full patch, just atleast the forced updates blocker.

I do not mean to harsh, I just point out issues even if I am biased against Online Activation, HWID etc.

I think that you are valuable and I thank you for taking the time to share what you considered will be useful for us.

I also thank you for having thought of us when you discovered/created(?) this script and decided to share it with us.

If people find this comment too harsh the Root Admin / Moderators can remove it but before they possibly remove it I want atleast you to see it then afterwards I don't mind if it is removed.

Thank you for reading 🙂

My Dear Friend @Rekkio

Why did you do so much hard work of writing this much text. 😂

You should have tested it in VM first or read the script if you understand batch scripting.

Okay, this is not my script but I know the author of this script.

This script doesn't verify any server. Internet is required for this activation method to work.

Basically this is a registry lock method.

First trial is reseted by script,
Then script applies blocked Generic key and registration info.

Then it downloads 2 small (html) files from official idm site. (actually any file download would work).

After entering reg info when idm downloads 2 files. Perticular 7 regkeys are created in registry by IDM Itself.

Then script locks that 7 regkeys.

This 7 locked regkeys holds license data.

(fake serial warning are shown by IDM by modifying some regkeys from that 7  registry keys. But as it is locked by script no changes can be made to them. So IDM holds registration.)

Also you can update to newer version without reactivating IDM. Cause it's already activated.

Only in rare case fake serial error is produced.

So, that's how logic of the script works.

As nothing is patched. And license structure is same as real license it behaves like a real license.

Also update doesn't break registration.

So, that was a rough explanation of working of script.

There are so many patches/fixes available for idm. So, Member can use what he/she likes. It's their own choice. 🙂

Thank you for the explanation @Krinal.

However is not a simple DNS request enough instead of downloading HTML files from IDM's official site if you want to test whether a domain name is blocked?

I have another concern that by downloading these two HTML files you are giving your IP address and perhaps the locale (language) of the current user to IDM's server.

So if these HTML files are normally not known by legitimate users and if they are very specific files / monitored pages, this could draw attention to the users of that script.

While I am not worried about legal action with users' IPs at all which is very unlikely, I think that the end-user's IP could be blocked/blacklisted from accessing the IDM servers in the future.

So make sure if it is really needed to download specific hidden HTML files from IDM servers to atleast use IDM's real user agent and use the same HTTP headers as original IDM.

And, I still think that if you are blocking a domain name the appropriate method for testing the block is to use DNS queries.

A simple DNS query without any options will get the IP from hosts file if the entry is present, then from system DNS resolver if not.

And IDM's Nameservers (NS) - sorry if this is too technical - will only at worst if using DNS know the IP of your DNS server and not yours.

And if you want to test whether an IP address is blocked then indeed you need to ping it directly, to see if your firewall rules blocked it.

And, I still stand by my advice that you need to ship atleast an IDM update blocker with your script.

Because forced updates in my opinion absolutely need to be blocked.

All updates must be allowed to be manual, you can do automatic update notification but you shall as developer allow the user to update manually.

But IDM as a developer (Tonec) does not do this. Thus requiring a patch.

Also what do you need from these HTML files? Is there information that you need to acquire?

And if yes, can you as a fallback if IDM refuses to serve the files include these HTML files with the script?

So that if IDM stops serving them you can fallback to a local copy instead.

And yes, people can choose which medicine they want to use to fix softwares.

Even though I for example trash MAS 1.4, HWIDGen etc on the regular for needing Microsoft servers to work and issuing HWID-locked licenses (Digital Online HWID activator for Windows 10), I still respect the choice of people who use them.

But still, such kind of fixes do not honor the principles of Piracy in my opinion. 🙂

But still, I think that great research had to be done to make that script and I respect the author's efforts.

If you can perhaps you should forward my improvement suggestions to him:

- Use DNS instead of HTTP connection to test blocked domain names.

- Use real IDM HTTP headers if you need hidden files used by IDM software to download them via script.

- Always include local copies of these HTML files with the script incase IDM servers remove these files from their storage.

- If Internet is not available do not insist on requiring it and use local copies of online files instead, to make the script work offline too.

- Add, absolutely, atleast one IDM Update Blocker patch with your script as optional tool.

Then the script should be good, and you would be free from the IDM developer's grip/control which means that the script will be a true medicinal in its own right.

Again, thank you for your dedication and thanks for the explanations.

I hope only the best for you and the script author.

@Rekkio

There is no specific/hidden files from idm website. Ideally script can download anything(anythig as a file, so script author downloads small IDM webpage in html format). This method just needs to download two files from web one by one. That's it. (files can be anything)

Internet is required because it's behaviour of idm. When IDM downloads any file for first time it creates 5 reg keys. Then when idm downloads 2nd file from web it creates two more reg keys.

Any files can be downloaded. here author downloads webpage in htlm file from idm site.

Also no host block is required at all. No ip/domain is blocked by script. This method won't work if host is blocked or if file is already patched by another patch.

Also idm updates are manual, IDM doesn't download updates automatically. IDM even with real license always shows update available notification. It's upto you whether to update it or not.

Ah, now I understand.

So I can download anything I want and not just from the IDM website or the script author's site.

And since you mention that updates are manual only, that means neither the Tonec company that makes IDM nor the script author can control our use of this script.

And that registry lock should prevent Tonec Inc from controlling us remotely to disable the software against our will (blacklist check).

Even with the fake message it would stay activated, that is nice.

However I vividly remember fighting tooth and nail against automatic updates in the past, I think this must have changed now.

Or perhaps I was fighting the update notification and not the whole update system itself.

Additionally, sorry I judged the script based on too few technical details.

I should have requested more details instead of judging it based on not enough details.

Additionally, I will tell you about one trick for a fully offline IDM activation (I'm picky with offline activation indeed):

You can trigger a self-download from your own machine using Baby Web Server HTTP server.

Host two files on it, point IDM to it and done.

IDM will think that it is downloading from an average web server and it will create the registry keys you want fully offline.

You can in your batch script simply run the Baby Web Server executable and close the process using taskkill /F /IM afterwards.

You can even pre-configure the server in the very simple configuration file.

If the Baby Web Server does not support multiple connections (byte-range header) IDM will automatically switch to a single connection download on its own.

IDM will just display 'Download resuming: No' if you show the download GUI and that's it.

And Baby Web Server from Pablo Software (if I remember correctly) is very easy to use and fully portable.

It's also free, and no SSL or whatever stuff that would be complicated.

It's no way like Abyss Web Server which scares beginners & average users away.

Download URL to put in IDM will be no more than http://127.0.0.1/yourfile.extension. Just that.

Or you write to hosts file '127.0.0.1 whatever.test' and URL will be for example:

http://whatever.test/yourfile.extension

And no worries, I don't mind if you do not use the offline trick. Since you can download from anywhere, I can always use that script on my own HTTP server.

Average users will be happy because they can switch the download URLs to anything and it will work.

Again I hope only the best for you and the script author.

Can you suggest him about local HTTP server trick though? Even if he finally decides not to use that trick I don't mind, I just would like that he knows about it just incase he ever needs it.

Problem solved, thank you for the technical details.

Now I have reconsidered my previous judgement and I think that it is good enough medicine, it brings freedom.

Only thing that is a bit annoying is update notifications, but that I remember that there was also a registry trick with the same permissions lock idea you mentioned that would make IDM do the next notification in 2099 or something.

I do not want to devalue your solutions, and if I know of a way to improve them, then I will tell you how you can improve them.

And as you can see, if there is an issue I will be honest and will tell about it without targeting.

And thank you for your patience.

Honestly @Krinal @Rekkio since I personally already used this script, I found it the best patch for IDM, I can install updates whenever it shows up, no need to do extra patches. i got a fake serial warning only once, and as described I applies the script again, and then no warning and updates works great so far.

thumbs up for the solution. +1
